Het onafhankelijke bkkc is in 2009 ontstaan uit de fusie van NBKS, BraM, VBF en LiBra. Dat waren de Brabantse koepelorganisaties voor respectievelijk beeldende kunst, muziek, film en literatuur. Maar het bkkc gaat nog een stap verder. Het richt zich ook op de disciplines theater, dans, vormgeving en architectuur.
